Chilblains is the reaction of the
body to extreme cold, worse in the colder winter months. For some people, the
body reacts a too much to cold. Some of these people have this predisposition
running in their families. Chilblains involve redness, itching and swelling
of the extremities.
Hands and the fingers are effected and the
fingers can swell and are very painful. The feet will also become red,
swollen and very painful. In some people, blisters may also form. The
skin may be red, purple or even blue in color. Chilblains may also occur on
the nose and ears.

Chilblains are itching of feet and burning of the feet. The feet and toes
feel as if they are frozen. All the symptoms of pain, itching and swelling
are worse in cold.
