Homeopathy For Diarrhea

Aloe
Diarrhea accompanied by gas. Gurgling
and rumbling in the abdomen before bowel movements. Involuntary stools
while passing gas.

Argentum nitricum
Anticipation anxiety triggers this or when stressed or after
eating too much sugar. Diarrhea immediately after eating or drinking.
Bloating and flatulence occur, along with pain in the groin area. Diarrhea
may be green.

Arsenicum
album
Diarrhea has been caused by spoiled food.
Can be simultaneous diarrhea and vomiting. The stools may be
undigested, dark, putrid and watery, come in frequent, small quantities.
Worse at night and after eating or drinking. Burning pain is
felt in the digestive tract. Thirsty for frequent small sips of tea or
water. The person may feel anxious, restless, and exhausted. Better with hot
packs on the abdomen but worse with cold drinks or food. May also be used to
prevent diarrhea from food poisoning while traveling and is a
wonderful flu prevention during flu season!

Bryonia
Diarrhea during the flu or when a person gets overheated and then
drinks a lot of cold water. Worse symptoms after moving about. Mouth may
be dry. Symptoms often are worse in the morning.

Calcarea
carbonicum
Chronic diarrhea and sour, undigested stools. For infants who are
teething and for overweight children and older, wrinkled adults. The stool
splutters, is forcibly expelled, is greenish and watery. The person often
has a ravenous appetite.

Cinchona officinalis
When the diarrhea is painless but has a cadaverous odor. It appears
slimy, blackish, and mixed with undigested food, tends to be worse at
night and after eating. Leads to rapid exhaustion and emaciation.
Worse after eating, especially fruit.

Chamomilla
For colicky or teething infants. For children who scream or hit
and are extremely angry and for irritable and hypersensitive adults. The
person’s face will be red and flushed. The diarrhea is hot, green
and watery, smells like rotten eggs and is accompanied by abdominal
pain and gas.

Colocynthis
For sharp cramping pains with diarrhea shortly after eating or
drinking anything. The pains are relieved by the passing of gas, passing
a stool, or bending over. Frequent urging for a stool.

Gelsemium
For anticipation anxiety, with trembling and weakness that accompany
diarrhea. Especially when nervousness, fear or emotional upset is the
cause. Gelsemium is also useful
during flu with diarrhea, droopy lethargy, fever, chills and headache.

Ipecacuanha
Severe diarrhea accompanied by nausea or vomiting. Sharp pains and
frequent bowel movements with stools that may look slimy, frothy or
green.

Mercurius solubilus
Severe diarrhea or food poisoning. Burning watery stools and sometimes
slimy blood-stained stools. Infants may have green stools. Offensive odor.
Children will experience pain before, during, or after a stool and have
frequent or constant urging and a never-get-done feeling. Anus is raw
from burning stools. Symptoms are worse in the evening and at night.
Pinching sensation in the abdomen with chills. Exhausted feeling.

Nux vomica
Diarrhea from rich or spicy foods or from food poisoning.
Better for a short period after a stool, but will have diarrhea again
immediately after eating or immediately upon waking. Chilly and
irritable.

Podophylum
Watery, urgent, profuse and explosive diarrhea accompanied by much gas.
The person feels worse with heat, movement and after drinking and
eating. After having a bowel movement, the severe cramping and rumbling may
be relieved but the person is left feeling faint, weak, and empty until the
next urging. When diarrhea accompanies teething in children.

Phosphorus
For chronic diarrhea that is green with mucous, containing undigested
food particles. When there is vomiting as soon as liquids are warmed
in the stomach. Weakness in the stomach, burning sensation between
the shoulders. Painless, foul-smelling diarrhea runs out as if from an
open faucet, and the rectum has a loose sensation. Person is often thirsty,
exhausted and may be fearful when ill. Better with sleep and cold drinks or
food.

Silicea
For breast feeding infants who get diarrhea from mother's milk.

Sulphur
Diarrhea is urgent, hot, changeable, yellow, watery and
slimy. Odor of rotten eggs. Worse at about 4:00 or 5:00 a.m.
and might wake the person to rush to the bathroom. Burning in the
digestive tract. Anus can be irritated, itch, and red.
Hemorrhoids may be present.

Veratrum album
When the person experiences a severe pinching sensation in the abdomen
preceding a profuse and watery stool that is forcibly evacuated.
The person often has nausea, a bloated abdomen, cramps in the feet and
legs, and chills. May crave cold liquids.
